Life is full of moments. We try our best to be “in the moment” in our ever-changing world but so often due to our busy minds, juggling roles, and hectic-fit-it-all-in schedules, moments are missed, lost, neglected. You are not alone if you are noticing this sounds a lot like you, it sounds a lot like most of us—doing the best we can to “fit it all in,” then going to bed with an overactive brain already planning the next day, and a heart realizing we never made the time to appreciate the day we just had.

Meditation is a skill, a tool, a practice we teach at Montecito Meditation to alleviate the stress induced by realizing we are living, but we are not fully alive. It is a mindful modality to help you be more present in your day-to-day life. Meditation is unique, in that while the practice can feel peaceful and relaxing while doing it, the real benefits show up off the cushion and in our active lives, where they are needed, where they matter. We see the benefits of meditation when we respond rather than react to situations, when we feel more joy, clarity, peace, presence, and gratitude shopping in the grocery store, watching the waves roll to shore, playing with our children, participating in work meetings, and laying our heads down to sleep at night.

Practicing meditation can (and has been clinically proven to:

  • Reduce anxiety

  • Reduce depression

  • Reduce stress

  • Increase presence

  • Lower blood pressure

  • Increase creativity

  • Increase focus and clarity

  • Help alleviate digestive issues

  • Help cure numerous types of chronic pain and illness

If anything mentioned in the list above rang an I-need-this or I-could-use-this bell for you, you are in the right place. The time to start is now, and we cannot wait to meet you!

Meditation simply put, changes the way we do life, allowing us to enjoy the ride rather than rapidly and relentlessly worrying about it.
